Reading Tutor - sessions will be for 30 minutes twice per week. Students will purchase the student log online and provide lined paper in a one inch, 3 ring binder, a red colored lead pencil, and a regular pencil. Parents are required to sit in with children under the age of 10 depending on the ability level. This is so that the parent understands what we are doing and will reinforce what has been taught between sessions. The main "homework" is practicing the sounds of the phonemes daily. Once these are mastered, reading will naturally occur. If small group classes are desired, students will be grouped according to similar ability levels so that there is not a large discrepancy between levels. The key to learning to read is learning the phonetic code which is best taught through spelling. Teaching the child to THINK in sounds produces the fastest and best results. This will improve spelling, reading, writing, and comprehension. In addition, I am a registered Institute for Excellence in Writing (IEW) instructor. Small classes of up to 10 students are offered for the school year for ages 9/10 - high school. The Institute for Excellence in Writing offers solid writing programs for all ages and focuses on the process of learning to write well. If a student has a defined structure to use for all writing requirements and understands the components of writing well, then excellent writing skills will follow. IEW's method is well known and its success speaks for itself. High school classes will be for 75 minutes once per week. Elementary and middle school classes will be for 60 minutes once per week.

- ✓ N families: that many signed-in homeschool families reported using this vendor through that charter.
- family-reported · N families: a signed-in family says they used this vendor through a charter whose published list didn’t carry it when we last checked. Families are sometimes ahead of our data.
